PREPARATION & APPLICATION

    Pinpoint origin of leak following standard leak detection procedures. Wipe clean before proceeding with repair.

  • Clean & Roughen Surface 2

    Clean and roughen using a wire brush or sand paper to remove excess rust, dirt or loose scale. Remove any oils, greases or foreign materials from pipe surface.

  • Clean & Roughen Surface 3

    Clean and roughen using a wire brush or sand paper to remove exess rust, dirt or loose scale. Remove any oils, greases or foreign materials from pipe surface.

  • Place ½" ball of putty directly over the pinhole, pressing firmly into place. 4a

    For Pinholes up to 1/8": Place 1/2" ball of putty directly over the pinhole, pressing firmly into place. Do not use an excessive amount of putty or it could hinder the repair.

  • Mold Trident-Seal™ Putty into a rope and place around entire circumference of the joint 4b

    For Joints: Mold Trident-Seal™ Putty into a rope and place around entire circumference of the joint pressing firmly into place.

  • Trident-Seal™ Rubber Tape 5

    Unroll the first 6" from a roll of Trident-Seal™ Rubber Tape, remove backings and begin wrapping leak site. Starting away from the leak, force putty into the repair. Apply majority of tape directly over putty; entire roll must be used. Stretch tape to create and maintain both constant and maximum tension. Secure with end of roll adhesive.

    STOP! After applying the Trident-Seal™ Rubber Tape, test repair by following your leak detection procedures to ensure the gas leakage is sealed and contained.

    Fill out furnished I.D. Tag and set aside.

  • Water is needed to activate the Trident-Seal™ Fiberglass Outer Wrap 8a

    Water is needed to activate the Trident-Seal™ Fiberglass Outer Wrap. Put on supplied gloves, open foil package and submerge in water for 10 seconds. Trident-Seal™ Fiberglass Outer Wrap must be wrapped 2" on either side of the Trident-Seal™ Rubber Tape to cover the entire repair site.

  • Occaisionally twisting the Fiberglass as it is applied helps 8b

    NOTE: Occasionally twisting the Fiberglass as it is applied helps it conform tightly to the pipe surface. Wrap Trident-Seal™ Fiberglass Outer Wrap over the entire repair area. Insert I.D. Tag under the last 2 wraps then squeeze and mold in the direction of the wrap until tacky. (approx. 5 min.)

    Once the Trident-Seal™ Fiberglass Out Wrap is cured (30 minutes @ 75F) it can be painted with a water, oil or epoxy based paint.
