Happy New Year!

By Chris Lazzara, Vice-President of Sales

NRI is excited about the upcoming year ahead and the great conclusion of 2008.  We believe that 2009 will be a year of strong relationship growth with our customers and the year of new products.  With the release of our XT composite system, after 4 years in R&D, we are happy to bring to our customers a product of unmatched quality and strength.  Our new manufacturing facility will enable us to continue to meet our delivery turnarounds to help our customers meet their immediate needs so we all can win.  NRI's commitment to customer support, technical support, product quality and product range is only going to continue to get better as we strive to achieve total customer satisfaction.

Syntho-Glass ® XT is a unique pre-impregnated, bi-directional fiberglass composite pipe repair and remediation system used to repair and reinforce both internal and external corrosion damage without expensive and time consuming shutdowns.

Composite consistency is critical to reliability and performance! As opposed to messy, inaccurate, labor intensive field wetting, our pre-impregnated system eliminates field mixing and wetting out of the composite, ensuring optimum fiber to resin content ratios. When using XT, long sections may be coated with one single application. The pipe loads are transferred through our high compressive strength epoxy to the extreme tensile strength composite sleeve. While sharing the hoop and axial loads with the remaining strength of the host pipe, XT repairs are stronger than that of the original pipe! XT saves money compared to welded and preformed short composite sleeves, and is comparable to carbon fiber yet much less expensive. Nobody's E-glass comes near the strength of XT!

Simplicity and Flexibility: Our system is easy to use and conforms to irregular shapes and geometries, making it suitable to a variety of leak repairs and remediation. XT is applied with no interruption to service. Repairs are made in minutes with no chance of causing further damage to the pipeline. The resins contain no VOC's and are safe to the applicator. XT has the highest tensile strength of any water activated system!

Custom Engineered Solutions: Let NRI's Pipeline Integrity Division provide application guidance in accordance with the latest ASME PCC2 standards. We take your XT inventory into consideration when engineering your repair, thus eliminating the need to keep large inventories on hand for various size and/or shape applications. Our certified instructors are authorized to train and certify your crews as Operator Qualified Contractors in XT application.

Product Approval: Repairs meet the requirements of the US DOT, ASME PCC2 article 4.1, ISO TS24817 and API 570 and can be used for Pipeline Remediation on any of the following surfaces: carbon, stainless and alloy steel pipes, fittings, flanges, structural supports, for above ground, below ground, sub-sea and splash zone service.

Testing: For over 25 years, NRI has focused its strategic initiatives on the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of pipe repair and reinforcement solutions. NRI has our own internal engineering staff and testing facility, including but not limited to tensile testing. As part of our verification and validation, we are involved in ongoing studies with a variety of prestigious institutions, including the University of Wyoming, which validate the effectiveness of XT.

Award Winning: We are proud to announce that Syntho-Glass ® XT was recently awarded “Product of the Year” by Plant Engineering Magazine! This follows a similar award received earlier in 2008 for Trident- Seal which is our natural gas repair kit.

Downtime critical industries rely on NRI for fast, safe and durable repairs. How can Syntho-Glass ® XT help you?

FEATURED CLIENT

Syntho-Glass® XT saves BP Amoco's Mahogany Alpha Platform off the coast of Trinidad.

During a scheduled shutdown, a heavily corroded 16" OD Hydrocarbon Balancing Header Pipeline was identified, with approximately 61% wall loss. If left unfixed, it would jeopardize BP Amoco's production output and start up schedule.
